Waterfront and Canal Homes in Cape Coral FL and Ft Myers FL

Waterfront and Canal Homes in Cape Coral FL and Fort Myers FL

Cape Coral, FL lies just to the West of Ft Myers, FL across the Calossahatchee River.  There are over 400 miles of canals flowing through it, in addition to having waterfront properties along the East and Southeastern shores Cape Coral.  When you take in the fact that homes are on both sides of a canal, that is 800 miles of canal homes.

Read here about one man's love for Cape Coral, FL and the boating opportunity it presents.

Canal homes can have direct access no bridge (also called sailboat access) or have gulf access and a bridge to go under or a lock or a boat lift before getting to the gulf.   There is one more type of canal home in Cape Coral and that is fresh water canal homes.   Home owners on fresh water canals can traverse the canals to man-made lakes for some great bass fishing or enjoy their personal watercraft for a chance to makes some waves.

Many of the canal homes have their own boat lifts for storage and convience. In SW Cape Coral a boat lock is in place.  The lock has recently been considered to be removed or rebuilt to accomodate larger boats and more traffic.  Either way this will be a great plus for the SW community of Cape Coral.  In the NW section of Cape Coral a lock has been removed opening up a large section of canals.

Another type of canal homes that Cape Coral offers is Fresh water canal homes.  This Large home with pool is located at the intersection of three canals which forms a lake called Arrowhead Lake.

Cape Coral also has homes on Fresh Water Canals

Wonderful pool homes reside on miles of fresh water canals.  Canal homes in Cape Coral are great for easy access to another world of family entertainment.  Whether you are relaxing on the patio or swimming in your pool you will occasionally hear the fish jumping in the canal.   Our fresh water canals offer great bass fishing and great tour for personal watercraft like jet boats.

South Fort Myers's Island Park Area has gulf access.

In the Island Park Woodlands community for $125 a year one can have use of a private boat ramp.  The back waters lead right out to the Gulf.
